I just wanted to thank all those who responded so helpfully to the problems
I was experiencing with iOS 13 today, but which seem resolved now I have
updated to iOS 13.1.  I have had no repeat of the menacing problem with text
messages not being sent and stupid notifications popping up that the person
I was sending a text to wasn't in my contacts.  I think there was a focus
issue because when I put my finger to the top of the Home screen, I noticed
the time wasn't always there, or the battery status, or the network status.
Very odd but now it's all working properly so that's made my day.  I am
still getting some haptic feedback when I move around the screen, even
though this is turned off, but I would happily live with that over the
Messages app playing up because I am in contact with family members most
days, and need to have it working properly.

Kind regards,

Jackie Brown
