Thanks, Steve, for the offer, but luckily, I don’t have issues at present. But back to what you said, and please correct me if I’m off the mark, if the best way of cleaning the registry is manually, then CCleaner would be quite helpful, because one can use it to scan for potential issues as a first step, and then decide manually which ones to delete and which to ignore, provides that one knows what they are doing of course! Am I on the right track?

Best,

Amro

Even with Windows 10, when you uninstall some programs, they leave crap behind in the registry.

Steve,

I thought it was not necessary with Windows 10?

Hi George,

I speak from bitter experience.  I have had customers run it, and muggins here had to clean up the mess that it made.

I have to agree with Steve here.  And what’s more, the Consumers Association (Which? Computer Magazine) even agree with Steve. (😊)

I understand their concerns as it basically works by editing your Registry, which is an extremely sensitive area.

Don’t use it.  It causes more problems than it solves.  That’s my opinion anyway.
