Hi Tris, I have found this to be incorrect. If you actually disable the internal GPS receiver, even if you are not using GPS, you do save battery in my experience. Every time you slide open the N95 for example, GPS is switched on. I think that so long as you are not running any mapping application that uses the GPS then you should not be draining power because of the GPS functionality. However other wireless features like Bluetooth and wi-fi scanning shoiuld be turned off to increase battery life. On the N95 it is a real killer. It is still possible to disable the wi-fi scanning but have access to it as and when you need it, I regularly use this to check mail when not at a computer in the house, I am sure the N82 works the same way. Hi Terry, If you have Wireless scanning (WLAN) turned on, that will also add to the batter drain. (At least it sure does with my N95) George. Hi all Does anyone know how to tell whether GPS is turned on or off, using the N82. When I go into gps data, it says its finding satellites, and locks on to them, but does it automatically disconnect from the gps when you close that application. I can't tell whether it is on or off, as my battery seems to be draining quite quickly. I have Bluetooth turned off, so it isn't that. Thanks for any help. terry ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
