Hi Andy and Kevin I've got it now. Andy, using Kevin's original method, select edit, then trim, then press space bar to listen to the track, and you will see that the beginning of the track has been trimmed off. Thanks to the both of you. Select Save Selection from the file menu and you're done. This assumes you're wanting to remove a portion from the start of the file. If you want to remove a portion from the end of the file it's a very similar approach but you use control + shift + left arrow to move the end marker inwards to the point at which you want your file to end before choosing Save Selection from the file menu. You could also move the end marker right to the point at which you want to remove the starting segment and press delete. By doing this, you've selected a small portion between start and end markers. Once deleted, you can choose save from the file menu. You can use spacebar repeatedly to listen back to what you currently have selected so you can be sure what you will be saving when you've set your start or end markers. There's an undo option in the edit menu so you can back out any mistakes and try again without doing any harm to your file. As you can see, there's many ways to achieve a simple edit using Goldwave so it's just a case of having a play and seeing what works best for you. Regards. Start the song playing, when you reach where you want to split the file, pause the track, and go in to the edit menu and under q points is the drop marker option, hit enter on this, and a marker will have been placed at the point where you paused the file. Now go back to the q points menu and hit enter on split file, then tab through to make your selection, and hit enter on the start button or split file button whatever it's called. I'm trying to figure out how to cut off part of a track at the beginning of a song. I've done it before, but can't remember how. Just wanted to cut off about ten seconds off the beginning of a song. Thanks Terry
