I use Sainsbury's and always ask the driver whether there are substitutes as 
you're not obliged to take them even if you've said you will want substitutes 
and the driver will take them back so obviously you are within your rights to 
ask.

  I always ask, "Is there anything missing or any substitutes?"

  They should be able to see that information from the paperwork, which takes 
  just a few seconds.  That doesn't guarantee he delivered everything, of 
  course, because I have known mix-ups in shopping, occasionally;  but I think 
  that's a reasonable question.
