[access-uk] getting a talking book out of a dead machine?

hello list,
does anyone know, if there is a way of getting a talking book out of a dead
talking book machine?
mine seems to have blown up, and it just had to have a book I really wanted to
listen to in it, but because the eject is powered, it won't work, and I can't
get the book out in the normal way.
