Remember that Currys and Dixons are part of the same retail group. However, the information given would be incorrect if it was said only Dixons stocked the boxes.

Subject: [access-uk] freeview with AD

Hello everyone

I attended a reception at Eaton Park today, Lord Grosvenor's place in
Chester put on by RNIB, and they did a general talk about the services
available now from Liverpool, which have been extended from the time I last
heard about them, libraries, a guy who wanted to raise RNIB's fundraising
activities in Chester and Cheshire, but of real concern to me was the
information given out about the boxes capable of audiodescription on
freeview. The lady concerned, Anna Jones, said that you could only get
these through RNIB or Dixons.

I know this to be wrong, as I did a look around in the archives, and Currys
was mentioned as stocking AD enabled boxes. I am therefore under the
impression that RNIB think there are only a certain number of them about
when the membership's knowledge of these on this list is greater, getting
them from various places.

I'd like to know where I could get the most updated information on model
numbers of freeview boxes with AD. I'm sure there are lots more out there
than RNIB are letting on there are, and I'd like to do something about it,
although I myself, use Sky to receive audiodescription. Any help and
information would be appreciated on or off list. Otherwise, I would have to
trawl through over 80 separate screens of freeeview related information,
some of which will no doubt not be related to AD but other aspects of the
service and questions, which I don't need at the moment.
