Subject: [access-uk] freedom box in the UK

Hi
Following a recent discussion on this list about freedom box, I would like
to let people know that computer room services are now a UK reseller of many
of the products in the range, which is excellent news. I would publicly like
to wish Steve and Angie Nutt the very best of luck with this, since I really
do believe in this product and what it has to offfer visually impaired
people in the future.
As far as I can gather, the UK price for the yearly subscription, where you
receive the software, access to the freedom box network for a year and the
system access screen-reading product is 70 pounds. I know I have said this
on Infotech and this list before, but that makes this the cheapest
screen-reading product available in Britain, and it's damn good for the
money! Couple this with the superb internet facilities you have within
freedom box, and you really have a bargain.
The subscription to the pass key, which is the ability for one to take
freedom box and system access around with you wherever you go, is 199
pounds. I feel this this is good value for money, since included within that
cost is a year's subscription to the freedom box network. The cost to renew
the pass key access thereafter is 70 pounds per year.
I hope that Steve and Angie will be able to influence the content of the
freedom box network a little more towards including a UK perspective, and I
certainly have a few suggestions as to how that might be done if they are
welcomed. However, there is certainly stacks of value in the use of the
network as it stands.
