Hi Jim, I use XP but I recall that burning under Vista/Windows7 is not too
different. Start with highlighting the files you want to burn. Right click and
choose your drive from the (send to) submenu. When I finish adding files to the
CD image to be burned I open the my computer, right click the DVD drive and
choose (write these files to CD). Next the Windows writing wizard pops up
asking if I want to burn a data CD or an audio CD. Choose the forma for MP3
files and the latter for audio CD's. Give your CD a name and hit enter. WMP
will come up at this stage. Tab to Start Burning and click it or just hit Alt S
to start burning. That's it.

I can't recall of the top of my head how to rip CD's using WMP but it was
quite straight forward. Don't you get a popup Window asking if you want to rip
the CD when you first insert it? If anyone is really interested I can rip a CD
to refresh my memory and write back.

I am not saying that one has to use WMP, I myself use other tools sometimes,
but if there isn't a reason to use other tools than the ones that come with
your system, you might as well give them a go before looking somewhere else.

  HTH,
  Amro

Andy, I've tried to burn before with the vista burning part of vista and
I've had no luck. Sometimes i need to burn audio and sometimes mp3 files so
need something that I can use to burn either, but not too difficult to use.

    Thanks for your advice though.
    Jim

Jim - whichever programme you opt for, something about it will have to be
learnt, so why not have a go with what you already have under Vista--insert
your blank disk, and select your rom drive from Windows Explorer, and go from
there, have a look on the file menu as I can't remember the steps off heart,
but always found them strait forward.

      HTH in some way -

      Andy

        Hi Andy,

Again because I don't know how to burn from the vista burn program.

Why not use the burning facility in Vista? I do and it works fine -

            Hi List,

Now I've managed to sort the cdex ripping program out, can someone
please advise me on the best free accessible burner to use other than Nero. It
was suggested deepburner but unfortunately it doesn't support vista. It is for
burning music and data and doesn't need loads of bells and whistles. I'm using
jaws 9 and vista.

            Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

            Jim.
