You can change the voice, and it's no big deal.

You probably have other voices that work already on your system, at least the 
ones that work with Narrator.

'Some people like the built-in eSpeak synth because it may not sound beautiful 
enough to read a novel but for everyday screen reading it's lightweight and 
stays clear at fast speeds.

Hi. The Vocaliser voices are quite good. Just like the ones on an iPHone. Why 
not purchase them? I've never given NVDA a proper run out because I've got 
System Access and all on going upgrades are free but if I didn't have SA! I 
would purchase the Vocaliser voices for NVDA as I can't stand that 1980s like 
E-Speak engine.
