Hello John and all, Here is an email posted last November, from the British Computer Association for the Blind list. It might be worth everyone who is interested in the Fantasy Football site, to make contact. Paul Benson. * * I thought list members might be interested in a campaign called Fix the Web, launched by Citizens Online. At last, an easy way to complain about inaccessible websites - start reporting problems now! BCAB members supporting the initiative include Leonie Watson and Robin Christopherson. Join the campaign to make the web more accessible for disabled and older people. Fix the Web makes the reporting of web accessibility issues super quick and simple for disabled people - it takes under 60 seconds. The campaign is also calling on tech-minded volunteers to pick up the issues and take them forward with website owners. Fix the web is aiming to get 250,000 websites addressed within two years and bring about a digital culture change in the process. Given that volunteers will largely be "techies" their involvement in the campaign will help to raise awareness of digital access issues. Fix the Web is calling on disabled people now to start reporting websites they have issues with - large or small. There are over 50 volunteers waiting to take them forwards. Find out more by visiting: http://www.fixtheweb.net Start reporting web accessibility issues in any of these ways: 1. Send a brief email to post@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the url and problem. 2. Send a tweet that includes #fixtheweb #fail url problem. 3. Fill out a three line form : http://fixtheweb.net/node/add/report Please Note: Bug testing is taking place throughout the Autumn, though it is expected to take a few months before the system is completely "ironed out". Fix the Web is asking people to be patient and welcomes feedback and any thoughts they have about the process. A browser toolbar to make reporting sites even easier is on the way too. Report now or join as a volunteers and together we can Fix the Web! * * -----Original Message----- From: John Gallagher - Email Address: john@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent On: 26/08/2011 09:20 Sent To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Email Address: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] fantasy football Hi all, With sighted help last night I managed to enter another team in to the telegraph fantasy football website. it is impossible for a blind person to do this as when you click the check box next to the player it goes to compare players which is a real pain for us. now I have my team entered though and have registered it is better. I just hope the chap at the telegraph who is putting our teams will give us all our points from the start of the season. my team will of course only get points from this next Saturday. shame the r n i b cannot get in touch and see if there website can be made more accessible. cheers now.
