to exit you do command W which closes the window and if you want to quit the
app you do command Q. as for opening by using the enter key I'm not sure that
this is correct, are usually open with command oh. this is when I am opening an
application within the applications folder, however, if I am opening an
application on the dock then indeed it is the enter key. within the
applications folder if you press enter thinking you were opening it what you
are doing is pushing the name of the application into an edit mode as if you
want to change the name.
