HI Peter.

This might be a variant, but on mine, I just had the standard setup of Outlook Express, though I did download windows live mail and messenger as I use them.

All the best, Ibrahim

I've seen on some of the adds for the NC10 that yes the live suite is preinstalled. Live Mail Desktop is what comes with the Live Suite, and it is the replacement for Outlook Express. JAWS works pretty well with it, but it does have a few querks. For example you kinda get stuck when moving up and down the folder tree, so it's best to use CTRL+Y to go to the folder you want. Or press CTRL+I to go straight to your inbox.

You also have to go in to forms mode when sending a message, so just press enter once you've got to the body of the message your wanting to send. Unless your using JAWS 10 in which case it does it automatically.

Peter
I use it all the time and it works well enough.

Hi.

Hang on, where did you read this. When you set up your computer, the only thing that comes installed on it with the exception of a few system tools and utilities is Mcafee 90 day free trial of virus scanning software which you don't have to use if you don't want to. In all other respects, this is a standard Windows XP home installation so you can use outlook express or install any other program you should want to use IE Outlook, Eudora, windows live mail etc.

All the best, Ibrahim

A quick bit of reading on the net suggests that the email software that
comes installed on the NC10 is from the Windows Live suite.

Is this right? Is there no Outlook Express? And< if so, does jaws work well
with the windows live software now?

Thanks

Thanks to all for their patience -

Hi Andy

The current range of Netbooks appears to be similar, with a few for and
against points, depending on your point of view. I went for the Samsung because I liked the keyboard that bit better than the rest, and found the
Asus a bit too cramped in that regard.

Briefly, and without boring others silly with this, the NC10 has Windows
XP, 1GB of RAM which is upgradable to 2GB, a 160GB hard drive, which is
partitioned, three USB 2.0 ports and a VGA port, WiFI, Bluetooth, ethernet

connectivity, microphone and headphone sockets, built-in webcam, card
reader that I believe supports SD and MMC cards, a six-cell battery which
has a life easily going to seven hours, and runs at 1.6MHZ I believe.
I've got JAWS, K1000, Open Book, MS Office Professional 2003, and a host
of other stuff on there, and it runs beautifully with everything. I
haven't encountered any stuttering or lagging, it's very impressive so
far.

I guess it depends what you want it for, but I'm quite happy to put it in
a small bag and carry it over my shoulder without it hurting my back
which, for me, is the main thing at the end of the day.

These machines come in black, white and blue at least, and retail round
about the £300 mark. The NC10 comes with two disks, a flimsy cover that I

can only describe as an apology, mains charger and 12 month guarantee,
though this may depend on where you buy it.

Enjoy.
