[access-uk] does the ideal radio recorder exist?

I am still recovering from the demise of RADIO PLAYER and despite fabulous help
by list members can't conquer "getiplayer."
So what i want to know is there a radio recorder similar to the
tv-receivers-recorders?
a machine which would allow me to enter programmes in advance and record them
off air, digitally and then transfer to an MP player?
