I've been transferring mp3 files to the podcast and music folders so far -
it plays Audible files too

Thanks - that clarifies it for me.

From which memory area can it play mp3?

David

Hi all:

Only had mine a month and absolutely besotted with it.
The only thing which really hacks me off is not being able
to set the date/time unaided.
Accessing it as a USB portable device is phenomenal.

A couple of questions.
1. can it be set to record in other formats other than
.wma?
2. which external stereo microphones has anyone used with
it?

TIA

David

I've got a DS50 which is in the same line and yes it's true.
Menu options are spoken but it does not have a text to
speech engine so files you transfer to it or record won't be
read out. It's a fantastic recorder. Look on
blindcooltech.com for indepth reviews.

hi all, i'm looking to buy such a device and i like the look
of the olympus ds-30. i've just come across a website wich
has all the usual specs for this model like other websites
do, but it also says the following: "Voice guidance -
Audible prompts to aid use by the visually impaired". has
anyone got a ds-30? is this bit of info true? i don't have
any useful sight, so navigation of such devices is something
that concerns me. further up on the same page the website
refers to this feature, but with the ds-40 as follows:

the Olympus DS 40 recorder has a voice guide that can be set
to 'speak' button funtions outloud when pressed. This
significantly aids navigation of the unit and can be used to
describe the current settings and audibly confirm commands.

so i'm not sure if it's the ds-30 or ds-40 it's refering
too. any help would be appreciated. the URL for the page is
