Hi

Nothing to do with the radio Four Signal, just the problem with the regional multiplex. Assuming that Autotune hasn't worked, try the manual tuning with sighted help, or just wait for your new radio!

When I get to radio 4 I then click the dial round once, twice, three times
etc in a clockwise direction and just keep getting back to radio 4 again. I
can eventually pick up classic Gold and I think korr before that, but
anything before those but after radio 4 just doesn't happen. I haven't had
sighted help yet. I tried when I was in an electrical store, but the
digital reception was terrible. a friend who lives around 5 mins away can
get century, jazz fm, Smooth and one or two others. So it's the regional
multiplex that I have problems with I think. I can get some local stations,
but they're more city based like Magic etc.

Hi

I can't see how thsi could be happening. I thought that when you tried to
tune into a station you either got that station or nothing, as tuning is
done by station name, and Radio Four and Century are on different
multiplexes. Can you describe exactly what happens when you try to tune
into Century? Have you had any sighted help to make sure that you have the
right station selected in the station list and to describe what's happening
on the screen?

Anyway, hope you have more luck with your new talking radio.

James

I've autotuned it a few times since finding out how to do it the other
day,
but still no luck. I guess that where I am, Radio 4 is just ar too strong
and covers up Jazz fm and century. But I will see when I buy the new
talking dab.

hi jill, try doing a new auto tune. it seems like a good idea every now and then now as the radio doesn't automatically pick up new stations. my problem was i hadn't re-tuned since i bought it, and century wasn't available at that time, so the radio didn't pick it up. is all fine now though! kevin - co-owner/moderator of the blind gamers discussion list. email/msn: kream@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jillian Grant" <jillian.grant1@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 24, 2005 11:43 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: curious DAB radio behaviour!

I've been wondering the same. There's a few stations I can't get with
the
Evoke 1, though my friend who also has one can. So I'm gonna buy one of
these radios next week and find out. Century is a station I can't get,
even
though it is broadcasting in my area. Radio 4 jumps in. Yet my friend
who
lives close to me can.

hi all, up until today, i've been using my old faithful pure evoke-1
radio.
with this model i've been unable to pick up century FM, despite when i've
looked into it, it's listed as being available in my area. today my new
sonus talking DAB radio arrived. and, bingo! century FM is coming through
loud and clear. is this sort of thing the norm? or is the evoke-1
inferior
when it comes to picking up radio stations? i was under the impression,
either a station was available to you or it wasn't! i've tried moving the
radio around the house and it makes no difference.`
