I agree with you to an extent as sometimes I feel lucky to have money
for being disabled and I see non disabled friends struggling in
different ways.  But I think it's naive to imagaine that they will cut
the care component and then give blind people help with shopping,
housework etc.  On the whole blind people aren't considered eligible
for support from Social Services at the moment, despite the criteria
which could easily be interpreted as meaning they are entitled.  It's
all down to the Social Worker doing the assessment and the drive to
make cuts.  So I think we should struggle to protect the benefits we
already have because I don't want to see them disappear into some big
pot which we won't get anything out of.
