If the pictures are of anything resembling print, perhaps something like
Abby FineReader could convert them straight into word. I'll try one if you
send it privately.

Hi List,
I have access to the British Library's digitised newspaper service through
my local library.
The problem is that these newspapers (from the 18th and 19th centuries) have
been photographed and are available only as j peg files.
I'm a bit miffed that these documents are, at present inaccessible to me,
but I wonder if a sighted friend downloaded them, could these files be
converted to pdf files and then be scanned by KES etc?
