Do you happen to know if this program converts protected WMA files, such
as
those downloaded from Napster legally? I am prepared to bet it doesn't,
but
it would be interesting if it did.

I use a program called Ace-High mp3 wav wma ogg converter which will
convert
just about everything.

You can download a trial version to try, but I think the registered
version
only costs about 19 US dollars.

You used to be able to do this by rename file extention in windows
explorer
under '98 but, I've not been able to do it with XP, no I know can.
So, are there file convertion software programmes out there, free, or to
buy?
