Hi also use the oven every day. The capacity is a bit small and the space it
takes up a bit large. I also had the issue with it talking to itself and I
found the cause could be if when using the oven it’s not given enough
ventilation from behind. The back part sticks quite far back which is a shame.
Sometimes during cooking it stops cooking and tells me the door is open whe nit
isn’t and cooking doesn’t continue until I tell it to. Every time you open and
close the door it tells you it’s open or closed which I hate and find a bit
embaressing as if I’ve physically opened it then I’m going to be aware it’s
open. It is expensive for what it is. Try your local council as you might be
able to get it using a disabled adaptations grant or using Direct Payments if
you have those.

We also have the Cobalt combination oven and, overall, are pleased with it.

We have had a few hiccups - the glass platter which is also the turntable was
broken on arrival and the replacement was also broken by the time it arrived.
Third time lucky we received an unbroken one.

The oven packed up around 10 months, but as it was still under warranty this
was repaired by Cobalt.

The most recent problem has been that it has suddenly started talking to itself
when not in use. We had to turn if off at the wall and only turn it on when we
wanted to use it. The other day it started smoking for a while, and since then
has been behaving itself, so we can only assume that something splashed onto
the workings somewhere and has now burnt off. It hasn't decided to have a solo
conversation for 3 days now, so hopefully it is business as usual.

On the plus side, we use the oven and grill a lot, the microwave / combi bit
not so much. For 2 of us the small oven is perfect for general cooking purposes
including ready meals, and has saved us a fortune not having to use the
conventional oven. Our electricity bills are noticeably cheaper to the point
that we are in credit with EDF. Between the Cobalt and our Remoska, we have
only used the main oven twice in 2 years.

The Cobalt is touch pads, quite easy to use but the machine as a whole is very
expensive for what it is. When it packs up we will just go for a standard combi
microwave at a fraction of the price. As I am the sighted partner, and use it
more than my blind husband, it seems a bit overkill to have speech for the very
rare occasion that he uses it by himself. If you are a totally blind household
it may be the ideal solution as it does cook well, particularly the oven /
combi and the grill. We really only use the microwave by itself for defrosting,
but even there it works well.

Hope this helps.

we have the cobolt combination oven and are very pleased with it. we've had i
about 18 months and use the combination settings quite a lot. I speeds up the
cooking of chicken amazingly. for example a 1.5 kilo chicken cooks in about 35
minutes and ten minutes standing time.

  Hi all

Our microwave is on its way out, so I'm looking for a new one, but was hoping
to find an accessible combination one this time.

I've heard of the cobolt talking combination microwave, but I've no idea if
its actually any good as an oven, so if anyone has one and they'd like to share
their thoughts, then that would be great.

Apart from that model, what are people using that doesn't have a flat touch
operating panel? I definitely want a model that has rotating knobs, I don't
like the flat panels, even with markers stuck on them.

Thanks for any time given to the above.

  Terry
