Hi Mark and others I was looking on Amazon recently and they seem to be selling a wide range of talking gadgets now, such as kitchen and bathroom scales and talking clocks/watches. My bathroom scales are talking ones and they are made by a company called Hanson, I bought them from Argos a few years ago and they seem pretty accurate, they'll measure in quarter pounds (I don't really bother with metric weights, unless it says so in recipes). I know that Lakeland did recently sell a set of talking kitchen scales, but not sure if they still have them. But if you go onto the Amazon website and put the word "talking" in the search box, you'll be surprised at just what comes up. I also don't find them particularly accurate, I mainly use them for weighing ingrediants for bread or cake baking. Also, I have a very recent set of personal scales for weighing myself, from cobalt, and these don't seem very accurate at all, unless my weight really is four or more pounds differnt from one day to the next... But when there is so little choice with where we can purchase such goods from the companys concerned really don't seem overly concerned with making decent stuff as we'll be forced to buy whatever they offer even if it isn't particularly good; For kitchen scales I'm seriously thinking about going back to an old fashioned style balance set, where you just place the weights on one side and balance it on the other with the ingrediants being measured; I was guessing I could buy a set of these off of the high street, and then braille up the individual weights myself (with sighted assistance to identify the weight of each weight).
