Hi again Peter, yes all my drives are showing in my computer, but good news, I have been able to clean install my system at last. I used the f11 key at bootup and it finally worked for me, but thanks to everyone who helped, Billy -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Peter Holdstock Sent: 28 February 2011 11:11 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: clean install problem. Sounds a bit strange for it to not see any drives whilst your actually running windows. Is your C drive showing up in my computer. peter -----Original Message----- From: hotscot72 Sent: Monday, February 28, 2011 10:21 AM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: clean install problem. Hi Peter, I'll try f11, and my external dvd player is first in bootup in bios. There Isn't a partition on my system anymore, I had a HDD crash last year, and when I got it back, there was no hidden partition at all. I already tried to run the install cd from the desktop, but the setup program after sometime came up with the message, that no drives were found, so I could not format, and clean install, Billy -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Peter Holdstock Sent: 28 February 2011 8:19 AM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: clean install problem. Hi, a couple of things to mention. 1. I think to get to the boot sequence menu you press F11 at initial turn on and keep tapping it until it comes up. Not sure if it's a different key for different manufacturers but I don't think so. You can then choose which device to boot from (but if it's at the top of the list anyway that shouldn't make any difference). 2. You can start a clean install of Windows from within your existing operating system if you put the disc in whilst windows is running. You then have a level of accessibility as you can use your screen reader to get the install started. I'm using windows 7 and it's certainly the case with that. In fact with Windows 7 I can do the full system install without sighted assistance which is good. However just to be on the safe side in case your sound card isn't supported automatically without the driver being installed by you, you can add the driver to the install when you start the setup and it means you'd have narrator speech at least at the end of set up. 3. Did your system come with a recovery disc or partition? If so you should just be able to press a function key at system turn on and the recovery process starts. That would completely reset everything back to how it was when you purchased the machine. Hope that helps. Hi guys, I'm having some problems with my Acer5920 vista laptop system. After issues with my vista operating system, I'm trying to clean install the whole operating system again. I now find my dvd rom drive is not working at all, so I have purchased an external dvd rom drive. The new drive is showing at the top of the boot sequence list in bios, but when I try to clean install from the cd, my system is not reckonizing the external drive. I seem to remember there was a certain f key which brought up a list of boot up options, and booting from the dvd/cd rom drive was one of the choices. Can't remember for the life of me the key strokes required to achieve this, hope someone using an Acer laptop computer could help in this matter, Billy ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
