So the key to the left of the one or right of the three is either the delete 
key or the cancel key and vice versa depending on the keypad.  I guess there 
is no way of finding out which is which without sighted assistance, and you 
can use these keys only if you know that you've made a mistake.  Until 
today, I too enjoyed the keypad but now I say pass me the pen.

Yes the key is usually  left of key 1 or right of key 3

You are allowed 3 chances to get the PIN in correctly.
Each time you press the  enter key (after pressing number keys) is defined
as
one o. So after the 3rd time  of enter, if still wrong the system will lock
out.
