I also buy from whatever outlet has the best price for the offered spec. You can get good bargains from places like Tesco and ASDA. For example, ASDAs E-machines PCs are really Gateway computers with the E-Machines/ASDA label on them. Mine has worked fine for eight months now, with no hardware or software issues and hardly even an OS crash, with Windows XP Media Edition. Their phone Helpline also picks up quickly and they are quite good technically.

You can also get packages with base-unit and all other required hardware but no monitor, if you don't need one of these--thus no wasted cash on something of no use to you.

where did you guies buy your desk tops from? i got my last one from sight and sound and it has performed okay most of the time but i was wondering whether buying from a specialist company was still the advice for us or can i just get it from any old high street computer store like PC world?
