Hi Adrien. No, its unlikely you'll have issues. the computer cases
should have a yellow sticker on the side whihch should contain your
windows license. if not on the side it may be on the back, or printed in
the book that came with your pc's.

cheers,

Mo.

Hi Mo

Because we may have to transfer to a new drive, are we likely to have any
problems with registering windows? When we got the pc's, the store or company
supplied restore dvd's, not the same as proper windows disks but it is all
there.

Hi adrien. Windows will partition any hard drive while its installing. You
need to have a windows install disk to hand if you are transferring to a new
system. There are ways of transfering your current windows install, for more
info go to iqbal.me.uk <http://iqbal.me.uk> and click the backup and restore
link for a fully accessible speech based solution.

Cheers,

Mo.

Hi Clive

I have seen on amazon for example a 5 tb for just over £100,
I only use Seagate, Weston digital and toshiba although I
have a couple of buffalo drives here, I won't use a name I
don't know. I think wd is my favourite if I had one.

Hi,

I got a 2TB from Maplin's for not much more than that at the
beginning of the year. They even told me that nowadays you
can get small USB-driven 4TB drives. For quality and
durability, what do people think is the best - Seagate,
Western Digital or A N Other? Are
there
any makes it's wise
to avoid?

Best,
Clive

Hi,

Yes, i recently bought a new external 1TB drive for 56 quid.
So expensive they are not for what they are.

All the best

Hi Adrian,

It sounds as though you may need to look at getting that
drive sooner, rather than later. USB external drives are
not too expensive, and at least you would be able to backup
your important data right away.

Hi

My Dad's hard drive on his pc almost failed earlier last
night, something crashed, only by sheer luck we were able to
get it going again, mum tried for hours, not sure what
happened but something crashed and after 30 attempts and a
hard reset by turning the electric off at the rear of the pc
it started again, they tried to run windows back through
but
nothing was seeing the drive but it seems ok now. But I have
a question, I don't know much yet but I was thinking of
getting a spare hard drive to keep in stock in case it goes
completely, what do I need to look for, amazon has them
reasonable, I have never got a drive like this, only usb
drives, what should I look for? Mum is going to give me the
mother board details. It has a 500 gb sata drive in now.

Regards

Adrien
