Yeah he had a hole in his head and it was wired directly to his brain.
Weirdly this feels like we're getting off topic, though. Perhaps not.

Yeah Damon, and it sounds dead uncomfortable having to have a lollipop
thing in your mouth all the time. There are always new things that don't
enter the market, I remember a few years ago there was a whole thing
about a blind guy in Portugal who somehow had a camera connected to his
brain or something. 
Sorry, can't remember the story but it seemed uncomfortable because he
apparrently had this huge thing strapped to his head and the camera was
somehow fitted, can't remember.
