Hi Jackie!
Totally agree on all levels.
There are clearly a mix of hardware and software issues that need to be
addressed in a timely manner and whatever the source of the money before you
buy anything you need to be comfortable that either you can gain benefit from
the product, whatever it is, in it current form, and have the confidence that
your investment will be met with an ongoing commitment for the issues you
consider important to you to be effectively addressed.
Its all about making a considered investment and sometimes after looking at
something you decide either permanently or just now its not for you, and good
on HumanWare for allowing people to evaluate the Touch in this way!

I agree Terry, and there are lots of positives about the unit. I have also
stated quite clearly that we need to keep in mind that this is a new
project at the start of its journey. Nevertheless, there are some worrying
issues that might not altogether be down to software bugs, and these are my
concerns, especially when the dosh is coming out of your own pocket. This,
in no way, detracts from the outlay by either DSA or ATW, but the bank
balance is certainly more noticeable when it is your own! (smile.)
Anyway fingers crossed for its future.

Personally, I am, in the main, having a very positive experience! It's
important to keep the things balanced, and, I do know, despite some
difficulties, many people are getting a great deal of pleasure from this
new product!

0was Hi Zachary, Some places, loan you a unit for a period of time, hoping
that you'll like it, and buy it. Jackie still has time to decide. Then if you
don't want to buy it, you can return it.

Hi Jackie, so have you not bought it yet? Thought you have.
Over all, apps that we use daily on our apples, on which device,
would you say they work better?

I am still evaluating mine, but I really do have some doubts to be
honest. I have heard people having SD cards replaced, the Apex
keyboard not working, and general instability and battery issues. I
don't think some of this is purely software-related, so it really is
concerning. My battery was at 90 percent last night when I turned in
at about 10 pm, and it was dead to the world this morning when I
looked at it at around 6.40. That's ridiculous to be honest!
There are a lot of positives, but I am leaning towards leaving it for
a while to see how it progresses. I appreciate it is a new unit and
at the start of its journey, but that doesn't account for some of the
problems it seems to be having, and these are only the ones we know
about.
Just my thoughts, I do want to keep it, and I also want it to work,
but I have reservations at this moment in time.
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi there Janet and John,
You'll find me there, with others.
To subscribe go try the usual message and send to
braillenote-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
It worked for me and I eventually heard from the moderator. I can
let you have his details if you don't hear for a while.
There's one slight difference to this list and that is that the
Reply-To field sends to us direct, so effectively the others don't
see any reply.
This in turn means you're totally reliant on someone to answer your
message, or make a comment, but I realise it does keep the traffic
down.
John, how are you getting on now with your BN? Janet, did you get one
in the end?
Mike and I deliberated for quite a while but took the plunge in the
end as it was time to decide and gain £999 for our older BrailleNote
Apex, or just lose that amount and maybe get one later ...
It does show some promise but only time will tell if they'll really
work on a number of things that I would like to see sorted in one way
or another.
Hope this might be helpful!

Please can someone tell me if there is a mailing list for
braille note touch users? Thanks a lot Janet
