i wouldn't have paid this price if i wanted them for listening to music
and such like, but i've bought them for their smart feature potential,
ie the idea of being able to go into shops, and places of interest and
them being able to know what you are looking at and start telling you
about it.
one of the apps i installed was called Otocast which for example has
lots of guides in it to galories, museums, and hotels.
admittedly lots of them are in the states but of courswe the frames
have been out over there since January but there are some in other
countries including the odd few in the UK.
can you imagine if bose expand it as much as they think they can,
meaning in the future you could walk into a train station, airport and
such like and the glasses would start talking to you telling you which
direction to turn for the different facilities , platforms and much more.
as well as using gps from your phone and the gyroscopes built into the
glasses it uses a technology similar to near field communication to
receive information to pass on to you.
so for example i found a demo a few months ago of someone in America
and when they were walking down the street and stopped outside a
restaurant they looked towards the restaurant and double tapped on the
right arm of the glasses with one finger and the frames told them what
the restaurant was called and what their special of the day was and how
much it cost.
i'm sure it's going to take some time to get to that stage but when it
does it will be brilliant for visually impared people and they didn't
even have us in mind when they created them.
