Hello Here is an Apple knowledge base article which explains what you can do to reset your phone. Unfortunately, if your friend has never synchronise her phone or backed up her personal information to iCloud, she will have to start again from fresh. Please refer to the instructions in this support article and you will be up and running in no time.
