Hi I originally asked for my friend, I haven't read all the messages but he uses nokia and talks still, we haven't moved on to android or any other platform as yet, will stay with those for the foreseeable future. My fault, I should have specified what platform he is using. It is getting really complicated. Sorry. On stock android, in settings, under the "wireless and networks" heading, tap on "more". Then "tethering and portable hotspot", then configure it and enable. Connect your computer to the hotspot [consult the OS manual for more help]. FMI, does anyone know why this message's headers seem to indicate it's supposed to be another language? That's where you'll find it. There isn't a connectivity setting as such. In there is a "tethering and portable hotspot" feature, which you should be able to use. On 30/05/2013 6:00, Ibrahim Gucukoglu wrote: Hi Adrian. I cant see why this isn't on topic for the list, so my reply is posted here for the benefit of all. Firstly, we need to know which phone your friend has. If its an IPhone then they can use the personal hotspot feature to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a wired USB connection. This is assuming that your friend has a phone package which allows tethering and the personal hotspot feature hasn't been disabled by the network provider. I'm not to sure on Android, could someone else contribute here? All the best, Ibrahim. -----Original Message----- From: Adrien Collins Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2013 7:32 PM To: 'access uk' Subject: [access-uk] best way to use mobile for internet Hi My friend recently had no internet or telephone services for 2 days because of a fault with the exchange. I thought as a back up, he could perhaps connect his mobile to his pc for mobile access, what is the best way of achieving this? I know there probably pros and cons. Perhaps you could contact me off list as it probably is off topic.
