This is why to some extent the question of which is the best is pretty hard to answer. I've had Virgin now at home for about 6 years with no problems. Yeah, sure, they will always go through the turn it off and on again routine when you call them but as some one who worked for an IP for a few years this
does fix most problems so I can live with that.
At my office I have had numerous problems with other ADSL companies which at the same time have seen applauded in conversations like this one. The best one is the one that just works and I think all of them do that for some
people. Virgin for me but I guess not for everyone.

Ho hum

From what I recall web browsing was slow, so was using the internet in
general. It even failed to load pages. Most of it was caused by someone else
using the connection at the same time though. That's all I can recall.

Hi Chris,

That tells us precisely nothing. You didn't like it when you were using your friend's computer? Was it slow? Did they give you bad support? What is
your reasoning behind this statement?

All the best

Steve

Ar, well, from my experience, I didn't like Virgin from when I was using my
friend's computer.

Hi Chris,

Their download speeds are a lot faster than Sky though. Fibre Optic wins.
Sky can't even compete with those speeds.

All the best

Virgin's ok, but they do go down quite a bit, plus their customer support is

rubbish. We're not with them obviously but from what Hannah told me...

i can get cable ibraham, as the postcode checker said i ahve fibre
optic in my area around the flat, plus there are sockets for cable etc.
Freeview is acceptable for my TV so can i just get a phone line plus
internet from virgin media and if so, how much would this be?
i want to pay up to ten pounds for the internet if i can since compare
the o2 deal of seventeen pounds fifty to seventeen pounds fifty as i
am not in their specific area

Hi.

Well, firstly you should investigate whether you have cable in your
area, you can do a simple postcode check plus you might need to
check with your landlord whether you can have cable installed. If
so, all well and good, you can buy just broadband on its own and use
your O2 phone to make and receive calls. If you want a landline and
you can get cable, with some of their broadband packages you can get
a free or discounted landline, plus your keeping your options open
for the fastest broadband speeds, 10MB plus. If it has to be a bt
landline or through a bt phone socket, I suggest talktalk who will
offer you a landline package and free up to 8MB broadband. This also
has the added advantage of international calling options included,
so you can call many countries around the world for next to nothing
or even completely free of charge.

All the best and I hope the above has helped you some.

I am moving into my new flat for rent in a couple of weeks time,
and I was wondering which internet provider in the UK do you guys
reckon is good value for money?
I was considering o2 broadband for the home, beeing as I am an o2
customer I could get it for seven pounds and fifty pence, pus ten
pounds for my BT landline, bringing my total to a respectable, 17
pouns plus my mobie contract of 20 pounds so bringing everything up
to 38 pounds.

However the service is not in my area so I have to pay seventeen
pounds just for the internet, which I feel nowadays is a bit
expensive.
Is this the best I am going to get?
Regards, Will
