I am wondering George when I had this problem, I was doing a similar thing of looking at the different ports and unfortunately not being a techy person I cannot comment well here but I found that the problem I was having even with the generic printer was that my print printer and my embossor were trying to share the same port and I recall having had to make some adjustment but it was much too technical for me to remember.

I think we can discount all but the last 3. But I'm surprised you have two USB002 ports. I assume you've still got the "Braille Embosser" set up as Generic/Text only printer in your list of printers. Suggest you try changing the Port of that device to each of the last three in turn, and try printing from Notepad. If all else fails - so you know who supplied the embosser originally?
