Hi Adrien -

I don't know which OS you are using, and I haven't tried to uninstall it, but have looked on this Vista machine, and the choice to uninstall is there under programmes and features.

Maybe you've got to stop it from running first. The only other things I can think of are to roll back using system restore, or to contact Avast and ask them how to uninstall.

What happens if you run it to scan your hard drive, doesn't it then inform you of the date of the database used?
Sorry it's such a pain for you -

Andy

Hi Adrien -

In that case, maybe a reinstall is the only thing left to
do? -

Hi Adrien -

I think there might be different versions dependent on
operating system [that's if my memory serves me well], so
hopefully you've got the correct one on your netbook?

You can also access Avast from the system tray, and make
changes in there, I think that is where you'll find the
setting for audio, and for scanning email etc -

Hi Andy

No I don't see that message, avast works ok on my other

not the netbook.

Adrien -

I can't answer your sound problem, but have mentioned
before, if you
have your incoming mail set to scan for viruses, then you
should see
something like this, which will confirm that the data
base
has been
updated:

avast! Antivirus: Inbound message clean.

up-dated

Hi

I use avast for my anti-virus, I have noticed that it is
not
playing the sounds when it has up-dated for example. I
have
checked all the settings, I have played the sounds in
the
avast folder on my hard drive to see if they work but
they
definitely don't work within the program itself.
Something
is wrong somewhere, when I first installed it on my
netbook,
I had it connected to my other computer via a network
but
I
am now using a usb modem and I think this may be the
problem. I think it is up-dating ok but I'm not sure.
Can
you tell me what's wrong?
