I don’t know what email client you are using but simply copying and pasting
afile into the message body of the email with control V works in Windows Mail
and later versions of Outlook.

I’ve done this thousands of times but the shortcut key for doing same has just
vanished from my memory. So, please help as I have a message ready to go but
