Hi Chris

When I first bought my vista home premium laptop I had a similar problem in that it wouldn't boot into windows, no matter what I tried. I diagnosed the problem as a faulty hard drive and sent it back. It was indeed faulty and the manufacturer replaced the drive.

At first your problem sounded like mine, but now you have said you can log in with a password it sounds a little more complicated. Obviously the operating system is loading, so it could be a bad sector on the drive, but if that's the case it's in a very inconvenient place.

Just wondering if it is prompting you to do something else after log on? Can you run narrator?

Darren.

Hello all,
With regards to my laptop problem, could part of the hard drive be failing? Remember, no matter what I do, or which mode of Windows I boot into, it won't get past the welcome screen once I've entered my password. Thanks in advance for the answers!
