I am split when I hear this sort of story. Part of me can understand not
choosing someone for the job if there is a financial outlay to get them
started.

HI Barbra:

I went for this kind of job, telephone confrencing thing. Jaws was ni98
percent there straight out of the box. But as soon as the company realised
they'd have to pay for screpting for jaws, they didn't get in touch again.
This was home based work, on my own pc too, using all my own equipment. The
only thing they'd have to do is pay for the jaws scripts.

Surely now with many companies wanting to cut travel budgets and going more
for options such as tele conferencing, there is bound to be an opening for
someone to hook into that conversation from their own home and provide the
translation service?
BTW Will, if you make a fortune from that idea I want a cut!
