Hi Jacky,

My model number is SAMSUNG UE40KU6400UXXU, note the number 40 in the model number, which represents the TV size. Yes I can get either freeview or freesat, my son was given both options when he was setting it up for me. Also it has audio description which I'm listening to right now as I'm writing this email.

Hi Jim D

As you have the 40 inch model, could you tell me if you are able to tune it
to either Freeview or Freesat if you have it?  Jim C has the ability on his
TV to do this.

Kind regards,

Jim,
Yes it's the 40 inch model. Thanks for the list of buttons on the remote,
shame about the IPlayer. If I have any more questions, I'll contact you off
list.
Thanks again.
Jim

Hi Jim,
What size of telly did you get?  The UE49KU6400 is a 49 inch screen, but you
say that you can confirm your 40 inch does indeed talk, so I'm a tad
confused, *smile*.  When looking up the specifications on the Samsung site,
they do not list voice guide on the 40 inch model, however, if this is the
one that you got, and it does have the speach, then that is good to know, as
not everyone wants a large screen.
I assume that you mean you tried using the iPlayer via the  source button?
I also found that it did not a thing for me, however I was surprised that
there were some shows listed under the ITV Hub.  I haven't looked any
further than just seeing that the shows were listed, it says top 15 shows or
something like that.  The other day My Five was doing the same, but now
there seems to be nothing talking with it.
Below is a list of the buttons for the large remote control.
Samsung UE49KU6400 Main Remote.
Starting from top left, then going left to right on each row.
Power.  Source.
1. 2. 3.
4. 5. 6.
7. 8. 9.
Teletext Mix.  0.  Previous Channel.
Volume Up.  Mute.  Channel Up.
Volume Down.  Channel List.  Channel Down.
Sports.  Home.  TV Guide.
Extra.  Arrow Up.  Info.
Arrow Left or Return/Back.  Enter.  Arrow Right.
Return.  Arrow Down.  Exit.
A, Red. B, Green. C, Yellow. D, Blue.
Settings.  Select.  Record.  Stop.
Rewind.  Play.  Pause.  Fast Forward.

Hope this helps, but if you need anything else, just give me a holler.

Regards.
Jim.

Hi Jim and all,

I got my Samsung UE49KU6400 TV yesterday and I can confirm that this 40 inch
model does have voice guidance. So far I'm impressed with the voice guidance
on the freeview channels, however, the BBC IPlayer isn't talking, so I must
be doing something wrong. Does Jim who sent the original message regarding
this model know if this program works? Also could Jim send me (off list ) a
summery of the keys on the handset, after the zero key, I say off list
because people on this list might not be interested and I don't want to clog
up the list.
Thanks for any assistance.
Jim (Yep another Jim)

Hi Sandra,
I just got rid of my Panasonic talking tv, in favour of a new Samsung model.
I have to say, I'm very impressed with all that the Samsung speaks, and now
including a bunch of 3rd party aps, including Netflix.  Although that now
speaks, I haven't found out how to activate the audio description on the
site through the telly.  The newer Panasonic tv's are less accessible than
the original 2012 model I just got rid of.  The model I got was the Samsung
UE49KU6400, and as I said, everything speaks, all the menues, settings, tv
guide, sources, and even when I record direct from the telly onto an
external hard drive, all is read out.  Lastly, I stuck a bunch of movies
from my pc onto the drive, plugged it into the telly, and I was informed
that the drive had been connected, and if I would like to browse the files,
and it read the names of all the movies, very cool.
Billy from Scotland, who is on this list, might still have a list of the
other Samsung models that have the voice guide feature, that he could share,
as sadly I can't seem to find it at the moment.

Regards.
Jim.

Hi All,

My Samsung TV has died of death now.  Does anyone know of an accessible or
fairly accessible TV.  I have heard of the Panasonic  but not sure if they
are in use any more.  Has anyone got any ideas for a good TV??

Thank you.
