Hi Andrew.another thing you could try is getting onto an organisation called powher, they are an advocacy service and would give you advice on what you could do about this. The URL is
www.pohwer.net/ -A good thing to know about CAB is that they can recommend a solicitor who will give you a short interview free, so you can discuss your options. As has been said, they will not recommend one over the other, but they do give you solicitors that they know are knowledgeable in your particular problem.

Making an appointment with them will give you an idea of how to approach this problem and could save you time and at least gain better understanding of the pitfalls ahead. They will be able to provide you with a list of solicitors in the area but will not recommend one over another. It is down to you to select your own representative although if you make an appointment with CAB ask if there is a solicitor who can be present during the appointment.
