Well I'm not here to defend the Pacmate but it's as portable as the
Braillenote GPS combo so is doable but yes I confess the idea of just
putting my mobile in my pocket with a bluetooth GPS receiver attached
somewhere else does have more of an appeal.

Isn't a Pacmate a machine. How is one going to carry a mini device around
with them. I take it you can't place it in your pocket in the same way as a
phone.

Hi Phil,

There's been some talk recently on the

gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

list run by Sendero. Primarily they worked first with BrailleNote, but
there's now some work being done with Freedom Scientific so their GPS (rated
by some as the very best and certainly good) will soon be coming to the
PacMate.

As you already own one of these, watch this space!

Sorry, not being very interested in that particular subject, I didn't pay
close attention, just noted it was happening. I don't think "When" was
actually stated, but I could be wrong on that one!

Subject: [access-uk] GPS

Hi,

Have been off list for a while and so apologies if I'm a bit behind the
times here but I am really interested to know where things are at with GPS
systems.
I have never used any of the systems before but I am really interested in
knowing how well the various options work, which ones people use and why. I
guess my thinking it's between Wayfinder or StreetTalk as I do already have
a Pacmate - although I'm not 100% sure whether you can get StreeTalk for the
UK.

One thing I would like whiever one I get is to be able help me get around
the University of Birmingham campus where I work although I'm not sure how
well GPS would work with finding specific buildings especially as the whole
campus all comes under the same postcode.

As I say apologies if there's been loads of traffic on this recently and I'm
late in on it.

Looking forward to people's responses,

Cheers,

Phil
