Thanks to all who replyed. The problem was caused by me downloading the non accessible version - I'm sure that I clicked on the accessible link! I downloaded the correct version from sendspace and it's now working fine.

Dave, How are you trying to read the book? The command Ctrl + R should start reading with the built-in voice; you don't use JAWS to read the book content. You can also get a list of instructions by pressing Ctrl + I. What happens when you use either of these?
