Ok, but can somebody tell me in control panel, from the performance options
tab under system
what should be checked as on, from the list of 16 items. to make it a bit
easier, here is the list I have:

animate window when minimising and maximising - off
fader slide menus in to view - off
fader slide tool tips in to view - off
fade out menu items after clicking - off
show shaddows under menus - off
show shadows under mouse pointer - off
show translucent selection rectangle - off
show windows contents while dragging - off
slide open combo boxes - off
slide taskbar buttons - off
smooth edges of screen fonts - off
smooth - scroll list boxes - off
use a background image for each folder type - off
use common tasks in folders - off
use drop shaddows for icon labels on the desk top - off
use visual styles on windows and buttons - off

I know some of the above need to be turned off for JAWS to work better, but
I'm sure some things should also be turned on, so can somebody be kind
enough to take a look at their own settings, and then let me know which of
the above to turn on?

Thanks - Andy

've just done what you instructed using Window-Eyes, and it works fine.
Even the apply and OK buttons work.
