Hi Mark and Robert

I have had the sighted help of my wife and she assures me the option to boot from the CD doesn't appear at all. We've re-booted several times and she's adamant it doesn't appear.

Sounds to me as if my machine is sicker than I thought. Has anyone any ideas please?

Roger

Hi Roger. Perhaps the following from the MS KB will help:

******Begin Extract*****
1.
Start your computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM. To do this, insert the
Windows XP CD-ROM into your CD drive or DVD drive, and then restart your
computer.
2.
When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press any key to
start the computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM.
3.
At the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to start Windows XP Setup.
4.
Read the End-User License Agreement, and then press F8.
5.
Follow the instructions on the screen to select and format a partition where
you want to install Windows XP.
6.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Windows XP Setup.
******End Extract*****

Note, However, that if setup detects an existing copy of XP installed (which
in this case it will), At Step 5 you should be prompted to do a repair.

As I don't think your Sound Card drivers would have been loaded into memory
throughout this procedure, you won't even be able to use Narrator, and will
therefore need sited help. HTH.

Cheers,

Mark

I think I'm misunderstanding something here. I thought if I put the XP disc
into the machine and rebooted the screen automatically came up that asked me

to install or repair.

By saying I need sighted help you're implying I have to do something during
the reboot process. Could you explain further please.

You might need to get sighted assistance to boot off of the cd. I am
not
sure if you'd get narrator to run at this point to talk you thru the
repair or if you needed sighted assistance for the process.

I have followed these instructions and the CD will not prompt me to

Is there any other way I can access the repair facility of the XP
disc?
This is a legit commercial product and not a pirate. It has been
activated by MS and all critical updates installed upto date including

Hi Roger,

Having booted from the CD, if you keep going though the process, it
should eventually tell you that it has found an existing Operating
System, and prompt you to install a completely new one, or overwrite
(Repair) the existing one.

George.

Hi All

I'm having a little trouble with Nero 7 Premium. The web site forum
said to run a repair on Windows XP Home. I've loaded the XP disc and
rebooted but can't get that
facility
up. Could someone tell me how please.

Many thanks

Roger
