Hi Roger,

I'm not sure of the actual wording but at the start of the boot-up process the default option is to boot from hard drive. If you want to use a CD you have to choose boot from CD. Everything seems to happen very quickly which is why you need sight to arrow down to Boot from CD. Not a very good explanation I know but hope it makes sense.

Good luck.

Robert.

I think I'm misunderstanding something here. I thought if I put the XP disc into the machine and rebooted the screen automatically came up that asked me to install or repair.

By saying I need sighted help you're implying I have to do something during the reboot process. Could you explain further please.

You might need to get sighted assistance to boot off of the cd. I am not sure if you'd get narrator to run at this point to talk you thru the repair or if you needed sighted assistance for the process.

I have followed these instructions and the CD will not prompt me to start installation. I have been without Autostart on CD's for some little while now and possibly this is why the CD is not recognised and doing the below is just another normal restart to my machine.

Is there any other way I can access the repair facility of the XP disc? This is a legit commercial product and not a pirate. It has been activated by MS and all critical updates installed upto date including SP2.

Hi Roger,

Having booted from the CD, if you keep going though the
process, it should eventually tell you that it has found an
existing Operating System, and prompt you to install a
completely new one, or overwrite (Repair) the existing one.

George.

Hi All

I'm having a little trouble with Nero 7 Premium. The web
site forum said to run a repair on Windows XP Home. I've
loaded the XP disc and rebooted but can't get that
facility
up. Could someone tell me how please.

Many thanks

Roger
