Hi Steve,

I should have said the "Disable Gutenberg Plugin". I've not assessed the
accessibility of Gutenberg since I disabled it some time back. But might give
it a try if you think it is more accessible now.

All the best, Paul

Hi,

You can't disable the Gutenberg editor in the latest WordPress, but you can
install a Classic Editor plugin.  It's better this way, because if you have
sighted users doing back end work on your site, they will generally prefer
Gutenberg.

By the way, Gutenberg is improving for accessibility all the time.

All the best

Steve

Hi Amro,

WordPress is accessible, although I have found disabling Gutenberg and using
the Classic Editor is makes it easier to use with a screen reader.

All the best, Paul

Subject: [access-uk] WordPress accessibility

Hi all,

I was invited to contribute to a blog on WordPress. I’ve never used WordPress
before and know very little about it. Is it accessible and easy to use with
Jaws? Or shall I not waste my time?

All I need to do at this stage is to create new posts and post them on this
blog. I searched Google for tutorials about using WordPress with JAWS and few
results came back, but maybe someone could suggest a good tutorial for a
WordPress novice? Also, I checked the JAWS help files for any specific
WordPress instructions but unless I missed it there was none.

Any advice is most welcome.

Amro
