Hi Léonie,I have just emailed Audio Books and am awaiting a reply. I could not see anything about the books being abridged but have asked about this in my email.

I looked at the Macmillan website when writing a short piece on these books for the latest BCAB members' CD. It didn't mention abridgement there either. It's usually notable in its absence. I have not seen one though so cannot review the machine. I think amazon were selling them forjust over ten pounds. I am almost certain they were abridged, which puts meoff rather. Try ferreting around at: http://www.afb.org/aw/main.asp Sorry, haven't time to track down the exact whereabouts of the article. This is a new, portable way to listen to audio books- just plug and play! Macmillan Digital Audio are delighted to introduce a brand new format for audio book lovers everywhere. Word Play is an incredibly light and portable pre-loaded player which means you can 'plug and play' your favourite audiobooks anywhere in the world. The player runs off a standard AAA battery so they are easily re-chargeable and they comewith a free set of headphones so you can start listening to your audio booksstraight away. The James Herbert collection of books was almost twenty pounds but theyhad most of his really well known ones on this one unit. If anyone has used one, a description would be good. I can see it being a good idea for people who do not like downloading books. I didn't think it was a bad price either considering how many books were there. I wondered how easy it would be fora blind person to navigate between books.
