Hi

If there's no sign of a device within device manager, under the sound =
devices category, then there isn't card for XP to configure. If it's an =
on-board sound card, maybe a jumper has been set to disable on-board =
sound. Either within bios, or on the main board itself. If it's a PCI =
internal card, maybe it has slipped out of the slot.

Maybe, it's related to why it was necessary to reinstall XP?

Subject: [access-uk] Windows installed, no sounds

Hello Listers,

We have reinstalled Windows XP Home on our desktop PC. Everything is=20
fine except no sounds. the soundcard doesn't show up in the hardware=20
devices. I understood windows automatically detected all installed=20
devices. Any ideas what may be the problem?

 Best wishes,

Clive Pallett
