I used Gmail for years over POP3 and never had any problems with it in
that way but changed over simply because I started using online as well
and the views did not synchronise, the same would be necessary for
someone using multiple mail clients accessing their Gmail. This may be
an email client thing but to my recollection, whilst getting Outlook to
behave was intially problematic it was possible, I once tried the same
with Windows Live Mail and Gmail last year and gave up because of the
constant extended synchronisation issues with it. One knotty problem
with Gmail is that of how folders work in relation to labels and that
can be a fiddle to start with in Outlook. Obviously Gmail may not suit
everyone; that it retains messages to me means that I never have to
worry about backing up messages from a PC because I can download any of
them again later. I have not had to worry about PST files or their
equivolents since I went IMAP with Gmail.

Sakib I've had no such problems. I think the point here is that Gmail
does this *by default*, meaning that it is customizable through the web
interface. All I told it to do was to delete messages that come in when
downloaded via Pop. I agree with Imap though, and unless it improves I'm
only using the pop service. So, not encouraging you or anything, but it
might be worth having another go. To me two days is hardly anything. A
week well that's acceptable. Good luck.

used Gmail for a couple of days. Even if you use imap then your messages
which are placed in the All messages folder just keep on coming back

your e-mail client even after deleting them. I'll never go back to Gmail
again. It was one of my worst e-mail experiences.
