Tristram, Thank you for this important information.Up to now, I used hotamil as http server and I try now using it with pop3 server. Do you think is there any improvement while using it as pop3 server and not as http server? I see now that all the messages are concentrated in the same inbox and not more, another inbox.
Any more information is greatly appreciated Moti Moti Azrad Musician & Piano Tuner motia@xxxxxxx motiaz@xxxxxxxxx azrad_moty@xxxxxxxxxxx ISRAEL----- Original Message ----- From: "Tristram Llewellyn" <tristram.llewellyn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

There have recently been some interesting developments regarding Hotmail/Live email. For some time Microsoft have provided both a web presence and also communiation over some email clients using their proprietory protocol. For most screen reader users the preferrable option was to use a mail client to access this service using Outlook Express and certain versions of Outlook as well. Last year Microsoft informed users of Outlook Express that they would have to switch to using Windows Live Mail to continue with the free service using a Windows mail client. Until very recently this was the position I understood. However Microsoft appears to have opened up the service so that Hotmail/Live mail can be access using standard POP3 protocol without any charges. The practical upshot of all this is that those who were on XP and used Hotmail/Live mail can now go back to using Outlook Express. I have already set up two POP3 email clients this way with the information below and it certainly works. Furthermore those using a mobile phone should with a bit of effort be able to access the mail service using their phone as well. Here are some links which may help. If you're happy with Gmail best to stick with it. I mean Hotmail's ok but... I'll see what I can do with instructions. -- Chris Hallsworth e-mail: christopherh40@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: chrishallsworth7266 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eleanor Burke" <eleanorburke@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, March 22, 2009 10:14 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Windows Live Mail I was told that Hotmail is not free Chris. Yes, you can set up mail on your phone, you can either use a mobile website which is a scaled down version of hotmail or the windows live formobileapplication depending on your preference. Also, some phones allow youtoset up hotmail through the phone's own interface but I couldn't tellyouwhether this would be available on your model. It certainly is on the E71. Thanks for that explanation. I like this way ofretrievinge-mail as I can check them when ever it suits me on either machine andIdon't feel obliged to run through them all in a mad hurry when I amshortof time. I wonder if I can take it a step further and bring in Mail on my phone? I know pop3 works on phone but I've never tried Webmail. This is because Hotmail uses a protocol similar to IMAP where all messages are stored server side and not downloaded to your computer. If youmoved, read or deleted any messages from your inbox, those changes would showupon all computers in to which you log in to your mail account, eitherusingmail or hotmail on the web. I'm slightly confused about Windows Live Mail. I'm using myHotmailaccount and can't tell whether the messages are downloaded to mycomputeror not. The reason why I'm enquiring about this because I was checking my mail this morning and left 20 messages in my inbox unread. Later on in thedayI logged in to the Mail client and I got the messages in which I'd left unread on the other machine. I had the 20 messages in which I hadn't readthismorning plus the new ones that came in. This wouldn't happen with apop3account because downloaded messages can not be downloaded again onanothermachine. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq-- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter.
