Hi Niamh.

Well, as you may have seen, JTools is being discontinued so that is no longer a consideration you have to worry about when choosing your access tech. I'm mega pissed off about it actually as I use JTools in conjunction with Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium and since the JTools product is no longer being developed, I'll no longer have access to this immensely useful and productive piece of dictation software. I've been sticking to Jaws 13 mainly for this reason, however now I know I cant upgrade to Jaws 14 even if I wanted to, I'm seriously thinking of ditching JAWS together and have been playing with NVDA extensively, though whether I can get NVDA to work with Dragon or window-eyes for that matter is a different story.

All my best, Ibrahim XX.

Hi Ibrahim,
Firstly thank you for this piece of information.
I have been suffering horrows all week.
Windows 8 is now my work place's system and they installed Jaws 14 for me,
which doesn't run j-tools.

I re-installed jaws 13.0.638 to run J-Tools and have been in hell.
WindowEyes here I come.
Reason my I.T guy and I emailed FS gave us very misleading information.
Niamh

Jaws 13 doesn't work with windows 8, I'm not surprised you've been having roblems. Windows 8 is awful I'd agree, however its going to be ten times worse for you if you keep messing about with the access tech, especially if it has been installed by a technician who presumably knows what is compatible with what. Have you had a propper assessment of your technology needs by a certified professional? Your employer should see to it that the technology not only meets your needs, but if upgrading is necessary that you have full and propper training and an upgrade plan drawn up to meet your specific needs as it will take you longer to adapt to the new system.

All the best and good luck, Ibrahim.
