One thing I discovered when downloading Windows 7 was that if you have less than 4GB of RAM, don't bother with the 64bit version as it will run slower than the 32bit vesion due to the way it uses the memory.

Actuallly Microsoft regard the beta as feature complete, although there may be something up their sleeve as a surprise. I think the main take away message perhaps alluded to in the comment above is that we have seen the last of the classic XP interface. Those who bothered and persisted with the VISTA start menu are now at a distinct advantage from those who pushed the interface back into classic. Classic is gone and there isn't really a need to bring it back given the capabilities of the machines it is going on today. Having done much the same as James Scholes this weekend I would generally concur and given it is a beta there may still be performance imrpovements in the release as there could still be a bit of debug code swilling around in there. I also found that a lot more of my machine basically worked after the initial install even that does the VISTA it was originally supplied with. I still had to fish around for some drivers though. The only problem I am getting which is small at the moment is that Windows 7.0 doesn't like my alps touch pad drivers because they have no digital signature and try as I might through the interface there isn't a awy to stop it posting the warnings at start up. However this isn't a Windows 7.0 issue. Microsoft have moved things around in the Control Panel yet again which is a pain to get used to, for old XP hacks it will also be a headache initially. I think it is true that both present JAWS and Zoomtext versions I tested will need some tweaks to work on Windows 7.0 but nothing major. Regards.
